چکیده

Soft tissue defect in the foot is commonly seen as it more prone to trophic ulcers since main weight bearing area of body. Reconstruction requires provision a stable, supple, durable and preferably sensate skin coverage. Following Sir Gilli’s principle replacing like with like, medial plantar artery flap provides an anatomically similar, glabrous for coverage on surface. In present study, we share our clinical experience use soft over sole foot. At institution, total 10 patients presented sole, underwent All were diagnosed cases type 2 DM. patient outcome was assessed according patients’ age distribution, duration surgery, hospital stay, post operative complications. Out all patients, 5 male female. flaps healed uneventfully without major complications partial necrosis. Donor site covered split thickness graft. There suture dehience which secondary healing. Medial has been described optimal reconstructive option this defect.

Free Medial Plantar Flap Connection with a Posterior Tibial Artery Flap in Reconstruction of Fore–Mid Foot Skin Defect

BACKGROUND Although there are many surgical treatments for covering the skin defect of the fore-mid foot, how to reconstruct the weight-bearing region remains a challenge. The weight-bearing region of the sole needs to withstand the pressure and shearing stresses of walking, so the plantar skin is anatomically different from other skins in the areas of texture, thickness, subcutaneous tissue, e...

SHORT COMMUNICATION Reverse medial plantar artery flap

Coverage of soft tissue defects of the sole has been one of the major challenges of reconstructive surgery. The sole is a specialized structure, with thick skin and septae in the subcutaneous tissues which make it especially resistant to damage from shear forces and high pressures typical of the sole. Replacement by non-sole skin such as by dorsalis pedis, reverse sural and free flaps will be m...

Heel reconstruction with a medial plantar V-Y flap.

BACKGROUND Full-thickness defects to the plantar surface of the foot present a challenge to the reconstructive surgeon. Skin grafts and a variety of flap procedures have been described to resurface this site, but not all achieve a return to normal foot function. For the plantar surface of the heel, the previously described medial plantar flap can produce successful results. However, this method...

Reconstruction of soft-tissue lesions of the foot with the use of the medial plantar flap☆

Objective To study use of the medial plantar flap for reconstruction of the heel and foot. Method The authors share their clinical experience with the use of the medial plantar artery flap for coverage of tissue defects around the foot and heel after trauma. Twelve cases of medial plantar artery flap performed from January 2001 to December 2013 were included. Results Of the 12 patients, ten...

Reconstruction of lateral forefoot using reversed medial plantar flap with free anterolateral thigh flap.

Skin defects of the heel have frequently been reconstructed using the medial plantar flap; however, forefoot coverage has remained a challenge, because the alternatives for flap coverage have been very limited. We describe a case of malignant melanoma on the lateral forefoot that was radically removed and reconstructed successfully with a distally based medial plantar flap, together with a free...
